Down Bright Angel Trail to Indian gardens
In Sept. of 1985, we took an impromptu trip to the canyon for two nights. My wife was giving a talk in Flagstaff and while she was working, Tom and I drove to the canyon to see if we could get a permit. We were able to get two nights at Indian Gardens so we headed back down to Flag, spent the night there celebrating Tom's birthday, and the next morning the three of us headed to the canyon. The weather was perfect and on the second day we did a day hike to the river and phantom ranch.
Toward dusk we headed out to Plateau Point to eat dinner. There were two hikers in front of us and we overheard this gem,. "You know, just walking along in these majestic surroundings, everything so immense and beautiful, makes me realize how insignificant *YOU* really are." We've used it ever since.
On the third day we packed up after a leisurely breakfast and headed slowly up Bright Angel trail. It was a lovely trip. I'll post some pictures when I can find some.
